Since 1993, I have served as intermittent Art Editor for Venice Magazine. Initially my role was to provide a window into the world of visual art through interviews with significant and emerging artists and figures impacting the Los Angeles art scene. What I soon discovered was that this was also a terrific vehicle for meeting and getting to know people who fascinated me. Most of the interviews take place in the context of exhibitions or events that give some logic to the timing of the discussion. Most often this provides an additional opportunity to speak with the artist in question about specific work and events that are important to them. Whenever possible, the interviews are conducted on the artist's turf, either in the studios, or at the site of their exhibitions.
